About Coach Daniell: His playing days in high school were spent in the panhandle of Florida in the early 90’s. He transitioned into college here in Chattanooga at Tennessee Temple University in the twilight of their baseball program before finishing his collegiate career in Clearwater, FL. Coach Daniell’s experience was largely spent “on the hill” as a left-handed pitcher, but also at first base and outfield in his freshman and sophomore years. Since then, he has had several opportunities to plug in to assist at both the high school and travel ball levels.
His philosophy on the game and managing teenagers will be largely driven by identifying the strengths that your son may have and making sure that those are used in best possible way to enhance the performance of the overall team. Baseball, however, is far more about “what is between your ears than what you offer from your shoulders to your cleats” - as one very wise minor league manager once told me. At this phase of the game, kids should be able to self-talk their way to getting better with each and every repetition (fielding, hitting, base-running, pitching). Commitment to the role always breeds new levels of confidence. The best teams are always the ones who execute what they know, not what they wish they could emulate. You get better by challenging yourself to be better! Baseball is an awesome game to watch because it exposes the players who don’t give much time to developing their game IQ and rewards the ones who do.
This team will spend a lot more time in practicing the small facets aka “muscle memory” of the game that contribute to the inning-by-inning success that leads to wins. Respect will be a requirement. Hustle will be a requirement. Commitment will be a requirement. Above all of those, representing Christ will be the most important message we will want to send to those who watch us play. Lastly, but not least important is to get your son to love the game more than he has before and for some to simply love the game once again.
Coach Daniell says: “I look forward to working with you all and having the opportunity to guide your son(s) to a fruitful season athletically, as well as, personally on and off the field. Please reach out to me directly for conversations on how we can address items that should be addressed before the season starts.”
More Info: The Patriots practice facility will be in Ooltewah (3 mins off of exit 11). It will be a full practice field plus indoor facility for hitting and pitching workouts. The Patriots will not have a home field this season so all games will be away games, most being no more than an hour away. We are currently finalizing the schedule and hope to accommodate up to 20 regular season games, as well as, participate in the Nashville homeschool tournament again this year slated forApril 8-9. Details to follow.
Our team will welcome any homeschooled player that lives in the metro Chattanooga + Cleveland + N. GA areas who are interested to come try-out. We would ask that you spread the word around as we will attempt to keep a very competitive team. We look forward to your thoughts as we move toward our Patriots season in ‘23.
