Newsletter—July/August: Be an Expo Volunteer

Registration — Priority 1

Two-hour time slots need to be filled at the registration tables for this year‘s homeschool expo/curriculum fair. This is a fun place to see friends and make new ones. It is also a great place for dads to work! Someone with experience will train you.

Please give your name and phone number and she will get you scheduled. It is first come, first scheduled, so respond early for your choice of slots!

Setup – Priority 2

Here‘s what setup involves: On Tuesday and Wednesday –before the exhibitors arrive on Thursday for their setup – we have to:

  • Measure and lay out their spaces with tape
  • Mark these with numbers
  • Set up tables and chairs
  • Lay down extension cords with tape
  • Set up speaker systems for the workshop areas
  • Post signs and set up the registration area

Work Schedule

  • Set up booths on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 18 and 19, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Several adults are needed to help supervise. Numerous teens are needed to help set up.
  • Set up booths on Thursday, July 20, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Teens and adults needed to help finish set-up.
  • Direct and set up exhibitors on Thursday, July 20 from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Adults are needed to help direct exhibitors to their locations. Teens needed to help exhibitors unload.

Exhibitor Food – Priority 3

  • On Friday, July 21, volunteers are needed at midday to bag/deliver lunch for exhibitors.
  • On Friday, volunteers are needed in the evening to bag/deliver supper for exhibitors. On Saturday, July 22, volunteers are needed to bag/ deliver lunch for exhibitors.
  • Smiling, amiable Break Room hosts/hostesses to be scheduled in two-hour time slots are needed. Job includes keeping the room tidy, replenishing food and drink supplies, keeping tables and counters clean, “guarding” food from unauthorized browsers, etc. It‘s a nice way to meet and serve the exhibitors. First come, first scheduled on the following time slots. (All are equally important.)

  • We need homemade food for the break room. Food must be INDIVIDUALLY wrapped into serving sizes. We recommend cookies, brownies, cakes, or bagged-up salty snacks. Please, NO ITEMS REQUIRING REFRIGERATION. Please let us know by email or phone what you‘ll be bringing and how much (see below).

Take-down — Priority 4

  • On Saturday adults, teens, and younger kids who are able are needed for take-down from 4 pm to 7 pm.
