Enjoy ‘Merchant of Venice,’
A special Shakespeare treat
You are invited to the Homeschool Shakespeare Troupe production of “The Merchant of Venice” Aug. 4 at 7 pm at the Baylor School Auditorium.
This is one of Shakespeare’s most beloved plays. Though considered a comedy, it introduces complex themes and some of Shakespeare’s most fascinating characters.
Come learn about the divine quality of mercy, the origin of the term “a pound of flesh” and the source of “All that glisters is not gold.”
For your free tickets, email and let us know how many tickets you will need.
This is a delightful way to introduce even young children to the beauty of Shakespeare.
An introduction to the bard
Two books to introduce children to Shakespeare are “Beautiful Stories from Shakespeare” by E. Nesbit and “Tales from Shakespeare” by Charles and Mary Lamb. The Nesbit book is especially good for younger children. The chapters on “Merchant” would be ideal to read before you attend the above play.
